Very rude and passive. Guessed what the problem was and put it as a diagnosis.
I was referred to for liver problems, he check me out and found out my liver was failing and a transplant was the only fix. I didn't have a job or insurance, he helped me get Medicaid and led me to UVA where they accepted Medicaid to do the transplant. If it wasn't for Dr. Shiffman I'd be dead today. Thanks Dr Shiffman, you are the best.
A great doctor and a true leader in his field. My wife and I found him very down to earth, calming and most of all listened to all questions and concerns. Everyone we met in the hospital from the different lab workers and radiology people could not speak more highly of him. He brought his knowledge and has taught them all so much about his field.
His staff is also excellent. His associate Alexander NP has been fantastic to my wife and I also. Very caring and like Dr. Hoffman LISTENS to all questions , fears and concerns. They are why we will not leave the Hampton Roads area. I would and do trust my life with them.
He knows what he's talking about but is very impersonal. Also fairly forgetful.
Dr Shiffman is a wonderful doctor. He explains things thoroughly and answers any questions you may have. He has preformed many liver biopsies on me and they are such an easy process with him.
