Only two issues arose during the move. One was the timing, and by that I mean trying to do this all in one day. I told both the estimator and the job supervisor that I thought it would be best to pack everything and load the truck on one day, and then drive up on the next day. The reason being that it was at least a 4 hr drive, and we couldn't be unloading the truck late at night - the assisted living facility would not allow that.
What an incredibly disappointing experience. It took 18 hours for a crew of 4 to move from one two-bedroom apartment to another less than half a mile away. 18 hours! That wasn't rethinking furniture positioning or unpacking boxes. That doesn't even include reassembling furniture — I've done all of that myself. That was the time it took the crew of 4 to load up the truck and unload it again.
I've tried reaching out to the general manager and he has not returned messages. I called corporate and they'll send forms to deal with the damages to items, but aren't taking action against the local franchise. Don't waste your time or money here. I've had good experiences with All My Sons elsewhere, but this franchise is not competent or trustworthy.
If you value the items you own, stay away from all my sons! They arrived without packing materials which were requested. They did not unpack items from drawers into boxes, just moved furniture with items still inside. The result was damaged furniture as well as damage to items inside. They will be very nice to you until moving day after you've paid, then all you'll get is rudeness and the run around. They do not have a system and work very unprofessionally. I initially had a good impression of them because Danny, who did the pitch showed up with a slideshow making all kinds of promises, none of which were kept. I explained that I had expensive antiques and furniture bought abroad, irreplaceable items. He guaranteed their team would be respectful of my possessions. They definitely were not. Several pieces were damaged. The morning of the move, they will present you with a ridiculous amount of paperwork in extremely small print to sign. You're faced with the decision to delay the move for at least 2 hours (that's how long you'll need to read it), or take the estimators word for it that they'll handle your stuff with care. Danny said they're not the cheapest and are pricey because of their quality service. Well, the quality of their service is less than that of a company charging half the price. The claims process is a joke. You'll end up with damaged items and only reimbursed 60cents per pound, regardless if the item weighs 50 pounds but cost $1000. Stay away from these guys!
I was charged materials that they left on the ground and things that were wasted by the movers. When I called to get refunded Caleb said he would refund if I brought the material back to them! I didn't even use them, they were in the parking lot of my apartment.
Unfortunately, they were sure that it could be done all in one day. It took until 2:00 p.m. to get everything packed up and the truck loaded. Then it was raining, and we were into rush hour traffic, so we were making terrible time. I had just made it through the Chesapeake Bay bridge tunnel when I got a call from the moving van crew saying that they had discovered that they couldn't use their easy pass on the bridge tunnel for the moving van, and none of them had any cash, so they were going to have to turn back. So in the long run the move did take two days, as I had expected it would.
I even helped the movers move things to and from my house because they were moving so slow. This is the worst service I've ever used for a 5 mile, same city move. With 1 bedroom and 1 living room of items.
There was a 4-person crew because I have a piano that needed to be moved. That never happened; the piano was not moved. I've had to hire a different moving company to move the piano and a large cabinet that wouldn't fit. For $3,000, this is not acceptable. In addition to the very long day, several items were damaged or broken.
The crew who packed all the items, loaded the trunk, and unpacked everything on the other end were very careful and professional. All of the valuable items arrived at their new destination unscathed.
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with this company. I paid over $900 for lazy service, something I was assured I would NOT receive. It took the movers over 1 hour to arrive at the second destination.
All in all I was very satisfied with their work, and I would recommend using them.
We used All My Sons Moving & Storage to move some of my father's belongings from his home to his new assisted living apartment. We moved several pieces of antique furniture and valuable art objects.
I feel disgusted and taken advantage of just because my husband is in the navy and was unable to make it home for our move. I will never use your service or recommend it to anyone. DO not use this company, they say all the right things, and assure you that your move will be speedy to save you money but that is NOT what will happen. I believe Tom the sales person and Caleb to schedule that I would not receive lazy movers and they would work quickly because "Every employee is an owner" but this is a lie. You will be charged over $1000 MINIMUM for any service you receive.
What a horrible experience; do not use this company! We hired All My Sons to move us from Virginia to Indiana. They were responsible for packing and moving the contents of our 3200 square foot home. First, they were supposed to pack on day one and load on day two. They decided when they arrived to try to do it all in one day; which meant they were at our home from first thing in the morning until nearly 10:00 p.m. We finally made them leave so we could go to bed. They came back the next day and spent several more hours. In their haste, many items got packed that weren't supposed to (like my full suitcase packed to use while we were moving!), and many items were ignored that were supposed to be packed. I went behind in the rooms they had "cleared" and found entire bathroom cabinets, kitchen cabinets, and closets that hadn't even been touched, and were still full of items that were supposed to be packed and loaded. Upon unpacking boxes, we had many, many items damaged or completely broken. Our entire dining room set was ruined with deep scratches on the chairs and table. A cherry secretary cabinet had all the glass broken out of the doors. Large items like an upholstered bed were not wrapped and arrived completely filthy with large black stains. Many boxes just had items haphazardly thrown inside. There were items that were disassembled for the move, but the screws or parts were not kept together and the items are no longer usable because of missing pieces. We filed a claim with them, with over $3000 in damages, and they replied they would pay us $310. That is hardly fair compensation for the items damaged or lost, in addition to all the time I spent cleaning up broken glass, filling out paperwork, and generally dealing with their shoddy work. Run far away from this company! The photos are just a sampling of the damages.
