Sorry for the rant, but it just seems ridiculous that there's very little choice on food here. Again I do say, the hospital and staff is beyond amazing, which is what matters, the food and sleeping situation is terrible though.
I went in and came out with pneumonia undiagnosed (2015). An irritable nurse practioner saw me after a very long wait. I had been suffering from what I thought was bronchitis. My fever was 103 going in. She gave me ibuprofen and decided it was probably not pneumonia and suggested I not get a chest x-ray (my fever was going up). I had so much body pain I laid down on the floor to try and get comfortable. Instead of seeing this for a reason of concern (I was out of my mind in pain) she suggested I get off the filthy floor. After being told to leave I spent 2 more days at home drenching my sheets in sweat and coughing. Fever got to 105. A med express diagnosed me.
First off, I'd like to say that this hospital is beyond awesome. The staff was great, and extremely helpful. Only reason I gave 4 stars is for small reasons. Firstly, sleeping accommodations for visitors, or dads after the baby comes, are absolutely awful. I love that they have something for us, but it's not much at all. Secondly, the food situation is the worst. We came on a Saturday morning, and of course with it being early, I get hungry while we're waiting for the baby to come. I go to the cafeteria just after they close, and go figure, they make it so that Subway is closed on the weekends because it "hurts the cafeterias business." So if you need to come here for an extended stay, make sure you enjoy vending machine food, waiting for hours to eat, or having to fight Jefferson traffic.
Yesterday I took a friend to the Emergency Room at Mary Immaculate. We were there for 5 hours and the care she received from Dr. Marica and the entire staff was exemplary. The attention to detail, thoroughness, and kindness by everyone was refreshing! Thank you Mary Immaculate.
I have delivered 3 babies here. I honestly would not have if my doctors had contracts elsewhere. Only because my obgyn doctors are so amazing is the only reason I stayed with the decision. The food is nasty and they are always out of something. The nurses are incompetent and have very poor assessment skills. 2 nurses gave me 2 different lab results. The pediatrician is not thorough and does not address concerns. The rooms are God awful small and the heating/ac units are terrible. The delivery room I was told can only be cold and my baby temperature was steadily dropping. I'm glad I'm not having any more kids at this hospital.
I just want to give a special thank you to Jamey who works on the labor and delivery floor. She is the BEST nurse anyone could ask for. She helped ease the pain during a time where I didn't know that was possible. I was in the hospital for about 3 days, with my first nurse being Jamey. Once she left me after the first day, I kept telling my family how I wanted her to come back. Two days went by and my wish came true. Jamey came back and I gave birth to my baby boy who was stillborn, with her by my side. Her compassion, words of wisdom, and high spirit, really helped to comfort me. I will never forget her. Thank you Jamey ❤
I called mary immaculate to complain. They did not seem to care. People with compromised immune systems (some unknown), older people and more could have ended up in hospital or dead. I am lucky because I also have asthma.
