Very friendly staff and always willing to help make sure your project is done right by offering the best tools and materials.
Bought two Stihl products—gas-powered trimmer and chain saw. Both times I was impressed with the time and care the employees took to make sure I knew how to operate the equipment. For the chainsaw, I was taken out back of the store where the salesman filled the saw with gas and oil and demonstrated its operation, giving me a chance to operate once. Helpful and friendly.
Carry items you can't find elsewhere and what they have is good quality. You will likely pay more but what you buy will last. People that work there are knowledgeable and helpful.
Some of the people working here are excellent but beware! There is one that will pretend like he is trying to help you when he is not. A while back I went to the store when my Stihl blower was not working well. I thought it was the carburetor and went there with the idea of buying a carburetor. He offered me to leave it there and for $35 a technician would check it and tell me what was wrong with it. I am a pretty do it your self kind of guy so I did not take the offer. He then pretended that he was helping me and took it to the back. He returned and told me that he had no idea about what was wrong with it, that I might as well buy a new one. I bought the carburetor anyways that cost me either $35 or $45. When I replaced the carburetor at home the blower still had the same problem. Eventually I found out the problem with it. It was a dirty spark arrestor. I cleaned it and the machine works as new. The whole thing cost me the price of the carburetor. I learned a lot about small engine mechanics in the process and perhaps most important, I learned that I could not trust this guy that was so pleasantly pretending that he was trying to help me solve my problem. To this day I believe that he knew what was wrong with the machine since it was such a minor and visible problem. Since then I have cleaned the spark arrestor more than once and the machine is still going strong. Beware!
A big thanks to Joe at ACE Hardware on Warwick in Newport News!!! I recently went to ACE seeking help assembling a garden bench. I had misplaced assembly directions and hardware. Joe took the time to come outside and look over the pieces of the bench in my trunk and told me exactly what I needed for the job. I'm now sitting on my bench typing this note. Awesome personal service! Very knowledgeable staff. ACE is now our permanent neighborhood hardware store.
